The Cambridge Centre for Landscape and People has launched in 2008 the

CCLP Course Series with Co@st

its first Summer Course on Natural and Cultural Heritage of Coastal Zones

The international interdisciplinary intensive course on natural and cultural values of coastal zones has offered a novel approach to the analysis, evaluation, mapping, planning and management of world coastlines with the view to preserving their natural and cultural values, including their landscapes, beauty, ecosystems and services.

Conservation of natural and cultural heritage in coastal areas requires a holistic interdisciplinary approach able to provide prevention of, and responses to, natural and human hazards. The course embraces this concept with innovative methods, tools and measures which can foster both sustainable development and biocultural conservation.

Researchers, professionals, governmental and NGO officers engaged in the study, assessment, planning, management and policy making of coastal zones have participated in this interdisciplinary certified course. Their contributions have been selected for scientific publication.
